Dr. Angelats grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois in the western suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a degree in Biology. He then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at The University of Minnesota in 2002.
Dr. Angelats takes great pleasure in working with patients to provide the best possible care, and he takes seriously the trust that patients put in him to safeguard their health. His core values are being straightforward and not dictating care. It’s important to him that patients have the clearest possible understanding and expectations for their health, and getting to that place requires a more dialogue-based approach. His parents were born and raised in Peru, so being respectful and understanding of cultural differences has always been central to how he treats patients. He is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Angelats frequently sees patients for their annual gynecologic exams, prenatal care including delivery, abnormal Pap smear management, menopause, infertility, pelvic pain/endometriosis management and surgery. He is also an accomplished surgeon and performs Hysterectomy (open, vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic), Hysteroscopy, Laparoscopy, Endometrial Ablation and LEEP.
Away from medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He can most often be found enjoying his kids’ exploits in soccer, lacrosse, and figure skating. He enjoys a variety of physical activities, including running, biking, and tennis, and he is a lifelong avid sports fan.
During his training, Dr. Angelats has received the Michigan Scholars Award for high academic achievements.
